Colorado River Round-Up Rodeo, in Needles, California, takes place April 5 & 6  2013 . This Rodeo event is sponsored by Needles Rodeo Committee and will be located at Needles Rodeo Grounds.

NEEDLES — Plans for the 37th Colorado River Round-Up to be held on April 5 and 6, are under way and the rodeo will have a new look. All activities will take place at the Needles Rodeo Grounds this year in a 2-day event starting Friday afternoon. All vendors and rodeo activities will be inside the rodeo grounds area, which is being expanded and improved to accommodate the additional activities. The Rodeo in the Park celebration, previously held on Thursday evening at Santa Fe Park, is being moved to the rodeo grounds to begin on Friday afternoon.

Young members of the area’s 4-H organization will participate in a 4-H Showmanship event featuring goats, steers and sheep on display. The Motocross Barrel Race, Battle of the Badges and Businessmen’s Calf Decorating will be part of the rodeo activities. The Little Wrangler Rodeo will take place on Saturday afternoon featuring the always-popular mutton bustin’ and calf riding for youngsters.

Gates will open on Friday at 4 p.m. for the vendor area. The rodeo will begin at 5 p.m. with the dance following at 8:30 p.m. Gates will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday for vendors and rodeo slack competition. Little Wrangler Rodeo will begin at noon, 4-H Showmanship at 2 p.m., Dance Trax at 4 p.m. with the rodeo performance at 5 p.m. and the rodeo dance immediately following the rodeo performance.

Tickets will be offered this year in a different format. Adult tickets (12 years and over) will be $10 per day or a 2-day pass for $15. Tickets for children six through 11 years will be $5 a day or a 2-day pass for $5. Children five and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.

All 2-day passes will admit the bearer to all activities on both days.

The Rodeo Store will be open in downtown Needles March 25 through April 4. Tickets, t-shirts and hats will be on sale.
